Want to select settings for SMS and iMessage? Follow these easy instructions.
Choose one of the following options:
Turn iMessages on or off, go to 2a.
Turn read reply on or off, go to 2b.
Turn SMS alternative on or off, go to 2c.
Enter email address, go to 2d.
2a - Turn iMessages on or off
Tap the indicator next to iMessage.
Depending on the current setting, the function is turned on or off.
2b - Turn read reply on or off
If you turn on read reply, the sender is notified when you've read an iMessage.
Tap the indicator next to Send Read Receipts.
2c - Turn SMS alternative on or off
If you turn on Send as SMS, iMessages will be sent as regular SMSes if the service is unavailable.
Tap the indicator next to Send as SMS.
2d - Enter email address
You can key in an email address which others can send iMessages to.Remember, you need an Apple ID before you can log on. If you don't have an Apple ID, you can create one at www.apple.com
Tap Send & Receive.
If you've not yet logged on with your Apple ID:
Tap Use your Apple ID for iMessage.
Follow the instructions on the display to log on.
Tap Add Another Email....
Key in the required email address and tap return.
Tap Messages to go back to the settings.
Tap the Home key to return to standby mode.
Tap anywhere to dismiss
